THE REVELATION OF HOPE

THE REVELATION OF HOPE

Rightly understood the book of revelation is medicine to the horrible times that we as a people are submerged. When we correctly understand the historical context in which the book was written and we make correct practical applications to our lives and the times we live in no doubt our lives can never remain the same.

While most people will label this precious book with all manner of names, it is evident from the book itself that very few of those names will paint a correct picture of the book. While some call it the mystical book many will call it a sealed book with a majority still labeling it as “a book that cannot be understood” or at least say, “hard to understand.” But the fact is that the book revelation is just what its name means, a “Revelation!” Not a mere revelation but the “revelation of hope.”

It is simply thrilling to understand the times in which this spectacular book was penned. Amidst the fires of persecution and the loud resounding Christian cries for safety and sweet release, God could never let His children without assurance of hope. Just as always, He selected an instrument that was deemed useless by the majority of then. John, the beloved apostle, exiled to the Island of Patmos was a man that most people thought had met his end of existence. What else could be concluded about a man who was of age, with little strength and had been mercilessly tortured by the mighty Roman soldiers?

But God sees not as men do. Beyond what men perceived to be worn-out material He saw a gold mine of strength and ability. Through the aged apostle God was going to pen a book that would give strength and hope, not just to him, the apostle John, but to every Christian from then till the end of age. The bible book of revelation is a virgin land of hope in our days. Just as it was to the people to whom it was written, it has practical application for us too today!
